The Three Styleketeers

My love of style came to me at a young age from three of the most important women in my life who taught me the fundamentals of individual style. First is my great-grandmother, the southern belle from South Carolina, who wears the most beautiful white embellished dresses accessorized with an even more extravagant white hat. Ever since I’ve been on this earth, and even before, she has only worn different shades of white…yes shades—like cream, eggshell, ivory, magnolia, etc. She is beautiful in every measure, and it goes to show that you can be stylish with only one color!

Next is my grandmother. She is the sophisticated, conservative business woman with well structured skirts, blouses and suits. She irons everything—even her jeans, and abides by the washing instructions tag on every article of clothing. She is the quintessential New Yorker in every way—extremely modern.

Then of course, is my mother. Her love of prints and flowing fabrics mirrors her easy-going personality. She’ll match a black and white zebra print with a red Fendi bag, armor her arms with gold bracelets, and look fabulous.

All three women taught me that style is not what you wear, but how you wear it and true style is the individual and not the fashion.

You know my Grandma always said "gimme my flowers while the smell is fresh & the colors are ripe", even as a kid I knew that meant while she was alive, but I only had the opportunity 2 once, so-to-speak. Before I left for college I blew up a picture of the the 2 of us from my Junior prom, when i felt the most BEA-U-tiful! (as i should 4 what we spent lol!) And on the back i explained that what i loved & will remember most isnt how grand the gown was or flawless the makeup was- it will always be indelibly etched in my brain as the very first time I looked at my face and saw the beautiful likeness of one Dorothy Mae Harris! And that likeness made me feel not only head to toe glamorous, but wonderfully connected to a glamorous bloodline. I wish she was around to see me in my twenties so I could shower her with flowers!

I say all that to say how proud I am of you! Not only for being selected for a WELL DESERVED "at long last" opportunity of a fashion junkie lifetime (lol), but for using all your talents, gifts, knowledge, & way with words on this very public forum, not only to celebrate fashion, but also to give flowers 2 your Mom, Grandma, & Great Grandma-for the entire world 2 share in their beauty!!!

ok,ok,ok-enough of the hallmark/ full house moment-back to my regularly scheduled program, already in progress! HELLO HIGH FASHION!!
